Gas tank nipple repair

#1

Post by 47str8leg »

Ok, so my right side 7/16-20 tank nipple is shot.
Colony has replacement nipples for oil but none for gas.
Replacement nipples available ? Degree of flare ?
Tried googling but all that comes up with oil line info and other flotsom and jetsom. Looks easy enough job to do , just need the right part or info so I can use the hard crossover line.
Not worried about paint on this one.

It is a 1/4" steel flare fitting with a standard 37 degree flare. You can get something to work from a plumbing supply, or Ace Hardware, etc. You will have to modify depending on how you plan to attach it.

Just replaced one on a '53 tank. Look for a pre-'50 gas filter that's beat except for the nipple. That feature and the one on the fitting for the gas shut-off piece that screws into the left tank are the same as the nipple on the right tank. Cut the nipple off and get i touch with Moyer Tank repair in PA. They did beautiful work, and the location for the new piece was spot-on.
