magneto coils

#1

Post by nmaineron »

My magneto isn't giving me enough spark to light up the plugs. It will give me a little buzz if I turn it by hand but not much. I'm assuming that the coil is weak so I've been looking, most I see are red, like mine, are they all the same? Is a Morris coil any different than a Joe hunt coil? Thanks, Ron

Possible coil issue, but also possibly a magnetism issue. Have you had the magnets serviced ? Is your mag old, new, sat around for years, etc.?

I put a new Morris shaft and their rotor as well as bearings and seals in it. The only thing I didn't change was the coil. I can't seem to find anything that says one coil is better than another.
