52006-47B OEM Harley vs repops

Hello to you Vintage Twin in Repop Hell,

I bought a 1980 Flh shovel to see what the early Hogs were like.
Having fun and want to equip the bike with a skirted solo OEM part 52006-47B
and currently they are on back order supposed to be some at the end of the month.
I feel you know a bit about the quality of the made in Mexico for HD skirted seat is the best for the money. If it was your bike would you try and fit it with the original HD part before spending money on the repops?
Thanks for any help, Dave

Foist....flip to your '58-68 Spare Parts book and find the part number for the seat. Then call the dealership and see if H-D still makes them. If not, buy a used OE seat online. They're out there. Be wary of repop seats UNLESS you have a guarantee for return if dissatisfied. The repop gentry (tractor) seats can have too much foam stuffed into the saddle and makes them look odd and non-Harley.

Good luck finding a good used genuine. V Twin does them also India make and sell them. But no reviews on the made in India.

Panhead i imported one a few years back for a 50 Pan blood expensive to get to OZ nice quality . But you IMO cant bet the genuine HD spear look. The leather skirt need a good massage to bring back shape due to shipping.

Not a secret. It's one of these fb sites that requires joining the group, but check it out. Very little comment. I founded the site, but get called-out if I start posting anything not knuckle or pan. Anything shovel gets deleted. Some JD and flathead oddities get published, but it's all about knuckle and pan.

Here's a saddle that is/was up for sale
