They sell rebuild kits, just buy one and install the new seal, it will then stay up by itself. 30 minute job at most.

Shipping and import fees to NZ could be quite expensive, if the seller will even ship off shore.
Plumber's packing, locally sourced: Cheap....

You Yanks don't know how badly postage affects the price of things purchased from the USA. The other killer is the exchange rate. That rebuild kit is priced at $US 29.00 - that's cheap. But it's also Australian $44.00, and USPS First Class International starts at around $US16.00, if the seller will use that. So the $US29.00 item costs upwards of $70.00 Australian. Worse for New Zealand whose dollar makes the purchase $75.00 New Zealand.

Thanks, Roodog for identifying the part that needs replacement. I might give an O-ring a go.

For years I have used stem packing washers for plumbing fittings that have nearly the same shape, in neoprene they work fine.

Had a translation problem there, Rubone.

Packing washer in US English, O-Ring in Aussie English. But a rose by any other name .... Thanks for the enlightenment.
