Hello, I have a 1976 Electra glide which I sometimes attach an LE sidecar to. The bike has the adjust-a-glide triple trees.
I wonder if someone could explain to me which position the forks should be set on for when using the sidecar? Should the forks be kicked out forward, away from the engine or pulled rearward, toward the engine?
I always thought they should be pulled forward for sidecar use, but now I’m not so sure. The manual is vague on this.

So, which way have you been running the fork, back, or forward?

Hi, I thought I was running with the forks kicked out forward over the winter. But as I was removing the sidecar today, I realized the forks have been in the rear position.

The forks should be in the forward position for SC use, the rear position is standard for solo use.

Thanks for the answer Rubone. That confirms what I thought. I did not want to ride it solo in the wrong

You can't hurt anything.
The "raked" (non parallel) stem position has less trail, which reduces high speed stability but also reduces the amount of effort to steer the rig. Your neck and shoulder muscles prefer the forward position.
