Re: Linkert problems
AFAIK yes, but if the throttle disc angle is different (M-74 is 9X) replacing it is a PITA, if they're even available. Palmer may cover this.
Disc angle determines when the idle and transition holes work, larger angles are leaner.

Re: Linkert problems
Nigel,
I will get out my book from Bruce Palmer, and look.
I think that Rubone, or kitable, members here would have more information about them than I do
Members knowledge here is invaluable and more vast than mine.

Nigel
Kitable, Has a booklet on Linkert carburetors.
Tom Cotten is also a member here.
I have one of Toms floats in my WLA’s Linkert M-88, as well as on my pandeads M-74B carburetor.
Also Tom made the PEEK rings for my WLA’s intake manifold.
And Tom also made tiny washers from PEEK, to go on the nozzle stem between the seat and the body of the carburetor

Re: Linkert problems
I am no expert, but some L&L models (like the m35 I think) are not supposed to use a fixed jet; both of the bowl stem holes should be plugged and the highspeed needle is relied upon, instead. An M74-B however, uses a fixed jet, making the highspeed needle practically useless (in my experience).Nigel wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 1:33 pm Hi all sussed needles out measured both seems like there different sizes so that ain’t gonna work , another question for all you linkert experts there’s 2 holes where emulsion tube goes in there both plugged with screws should one of these be a jet screw thanks nigel
I've been told (by a past member/authority on the subject @NightShift aka @Cotten ) that which hole the jet goes in does not matter.

Re: Linkert problems
I hesitate to comment on needles and which Model M uses a main jet + a high speed needle (M-74B), which a main jet and a blank high speed needle (M-88), and which a plugged main jet and a high speed needle (M-51?). I defer to Cotten and Palmer.
With a main jet the high speed needle only "trims" (makes a fine adjustment) to the WOT fuel mix.
My modest booklet instead assumes that the carburetor is original, and the owner wishes to modify it w/r/t changes in the engine. It's not a service manual, not a history, and doesn't solve all problems.
