9 year resto project

#1

Post by fenderguitarleo »

Almost done with my 9 year restoration of a chopper basket case. She has a 1942 left side case, 1945 right side, 42 trans, 48 frame and the rest is all repo parts. I did get as much NOS hardware as I could find. This was a $2,000 mixed bag basket case I won off ebay. It had a raked frame, extended forks the engine and trans totally apart and came with not one nut or bolt. I was able to sell off the frame and front end and miss matched tanks and acquire some nicer pieces. I did every bit of work on it myself. Rebuilt the engine and trans and polished and painted everything. Ill be hopefully firing her up on Thanksgiving !

Nice Job !! Let me wish you a Happy Thanksgiving in advance .
I have a question about your case's . WHen you have mis-matched cases like this with different belly #'s do you have to have the cases line-bores before reassembly ?
thanks

Thanks for the compliment my friend.
Most folks say that you should, I did not. I believe this engine was run before with the miss matched cases so I just put all new bearings and bushings and hope for the best.
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.

Nice job on that bike Leo. 45s are fun bikes to ride. I like the iron heads.

Im honored Rubone for the compliment ! Thank You.

4 things I need to do before kick over. Time it, cut the chain for install, chain guard on and new battery that I just got from V twin.
We have a bit of a cold snap going on here on the Island and no heated shop at 67 I've really become wimpy. :D
