Shift shaft lock screw

#1

Post by Cooky 01 »

Hi Guys
I have 65 and 77 transmission cases and neither one has the hole for the shift shaft lock screw like the earlier models. All my manuals and everything I have read indicates that was still how the shift shaft was retained. Both off theses cases are OEM. Can anyone shed any light on this issue.
Cheers

The '77 up shaft is retained with a "C" clip. Are you sure you have a '65 case? The number 65 cast into it isn't a date.
Please go to the new member section and do an intro so we know who we are talking to.

Thanks Robbie
Have gone to the new member section and introduced myself, not real good at this yet, but will learn.
100% correct, assumption is the Mother of all fu(^%ups and that's what I did. Date code is W 6820, which as you have pointed out is later model. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Cheers
