He's not into the flash ...

Does seem to like new technology mixed in with the old ...
We do have a kicker that's still in the box to add to the 5-speed (It's black)

On the oil tank, I suggested getting a builders kit that looks like the old horseshoe tank and modify it to work with the 5-speed...

Image

Would require major mods that he wasn't all that gung-ho on doing, plus the battery cavity would need to be enlarged (Keeping the ele. leg on line) which would net small oil capacity ...
Be somewhat of a huge undertaking to say the least ...

Form vs function ...
The round tank allows for a large battery and retains good oil capacity, plus it's a bolt on, no hard work involved for installation ...

The scooter is not a restoration by no means ... (Kinda a wolf in sheep's clothing)
Do think he's after a well running and handling scoot with some convenience of today's modern parts in it's construction ...

All parts are of his choice .... I lay it on the table for discussion, we welcome others to offer opinions as the build continues ...

Guess it would be safe to say "Not your Granddaddy's 48"

Got more up-dates on the Binder ..
Been somewhat busy with it ..
(Both new door locks are in and working, at the moment I'm working on the glove box lock so it will use the same key as the doors locks)

Just a dang old truck ...
And this forum is about scoots, so I'll slack off with posting much about it ..

On the cone motor with Knuck top end ...

Being Harley's first production OHV motor the design was a bit primitive especially the oil control ... The way they did the top-end return oiling was a bit out there ...

The tins and rocker boxes used a vacuum from the breather gear...
It was timed to have vacuum to go up though the case into the lifter blocks and pushrod covers, inturn pulling oil from the tin valve spring buckets ...

Pan's, Shovel's and Evo's didn't use that design ..
In order to run a Kunck top end on a cone motor .... Some thought will be needed to get the Top-End oil out of the heads ...

OMG ! ! !
Next we'll be putting 45" top end on an Evo Sporty?
Now, that would be a trick, no?

How about taking those drain tubes from the valve bucks, siamese them, 4 into 2, and tap them externally into the fly wheel cavity. Much like any other external drain system foe aluminum headed competition engines?

From a post at Jockey Journal; I built one a couple of years ago but I used a cone shovel bottom end with a pan on the front and knuckle on the rear. I used the vacuum port that would normally evacute the shovel primary to get oil out of the knuckle and left the pan front stock. Leineweber ground my cam and it worked fine.

Slick as a Minnow's peter ... 8)

The size is 88" to start with but taller strokes than 4 3/4 will be available. S&S cases and wheels, Carrillo 8" rods and JE Stroker pistons. Cams will be Red Shift or Andrews with hydraulic lifters. S&S E carb and ignition. FHP iron cylinders and aluminum heads.
Modified oil pump and piston skirt cooling. The engines are being built in Sweden by Flathead Power and Karling Racing Engines and are designed by the iconic artist Jonas Wickman.

You stuff your 5 speed transmission, clutch and starter in and you're good to go. I can go on for ever here but that's not the point, all we want to know is if there are people out there that are interested in such a sweet little engine. The planned serie is 15 units and the price tag will be between $11-12.000 USD with a $1000.00 deposit on order.
