Re: [Wanted] Compensator Sprocket Kit 1938-54
Just saw one on eBay last week. I’m in the same boat but may buy a 24 tooth tapered bore sprocket and skip the comp. My aftermarket inner primary needs major rework first because the front holes don’t line up well and they aren’t recessed enough in this area to contact the bolting surface.

Right or wrong, I welded flat washers to the back side of the engine mounting holes to take up that same space you seem to be dealing with.PanPal wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 3:08 pm Just saw one on eBay last week. Thanks Roo, my holes don’t line up either, so I bought a reinforcement ring I plan to weld in to replace the oversized out of aligned holes in it now.

Did you see the offerings on e bay? Both Assemblies I saw listed were missing the nut. One comp listed appears to be earlier than the part number your asking about, but the second one is 23 teeth.

Re: [Wanted] Compensator Sprocket Kit 1938-54
I'm more interested in why you want a compensator kit for a sidecar equipped bike? Most you will find (if you can ebven find an original ) will be 23 or 24 tooth, far too high for comfortable engine performance with a sidecar. There was a 22 tooth offered but I've never seen one in person. Many of the other style compensators were aftermarket accessories and are generally missing parts or worn out. The -54 kit had some issues over extended use and were not all that popular.
That being said H-D never equipped a factory sidecar bike with a compensator, all are solid sprocket type, the same with Police bikes. They just did not hold up well with severe use.
One of the aftermarket types.

Tedd's V-Twin offers tapered motor sprockets is tooth counts from 19 up to 25T. I did not check inventory/availability.

Sofar I have zero experience with the Pan, primary-chain and sidecar.
I have read it in the KB that a compensator prolongs the life of nowadays low quality chains substantialy and that a 22T sprocket is a must
Despite that the manual says 20T for 4-speed.

No I couldn`t find the offer on ebay. Maybe my search pattern is wrong. Thanks

Re: [Wanted] Compensator Sprocket Kit 1938-54
Regarding compensators:
They are unnecessary.
I have never run one on any of my bikes since 1967. 1950 Panhead 74, 1968 FL in 74, 80, and 90 inch configurations, and 100 " Custom Evo, since 2002. I may be hard headed, but I don't feel they do anything beneficial, and just cause headaches, especially in today's over powered heavyweight machines.
Don't lug your motor, and they prove to be useless......
Just my 2d worth....
....RooDog....
PS: On today's big inch rigs many people are totally eliminating their comps, going to rigid motor sprockets, with happy results....
