Is there a parts source for the old handlebar switches? I need the wire holder piece for the headlight switch. Ron

A word of caution regarding imported, aftermarket switches. I have found them to be cheap and wear out quickly. They also don’t fit the handlebars well. If possible, try to source OEM parts if you can find them. They pop up on eBay occasionally.

Thanks guys, I have the switch body. I was trying to rewire it when the wire tumbler or the piece that hold the contacts just kinda blew up in my hand. So I'm hoping to find the internal parts. And I know

In the old factory wiring harnesses (lots for WLAs) the Bakelite contact terminal came pre-soldered to the wires as a replacement part. They show up regularly on eBay. All the blocks are the same, just where the wires are soldered makes them different.

You got that right. I've had to massage the internals just to stop them from binding up. And the radius is often smaller than the handlebar radius. Try to screw them in tight and after a point the little plastic barrel jams between the switch body and the handlebar. I managed to make two good ones out of four not-so-good ones.

I’ve also seen switches with original looking cloth covered wire described as made in USA. Well, the wire may be made in the States but the switch is the same imported POS.

Yes. I've had the switches with the PVC insulation and the cloth-covered PVC insulation and both used the same switch (imported POS).

I've had good luck making the import switches work, by substituting a brass rivet with a slightly larger head for the "plunger" that is in the switch.
