New YouTube channel fixing flathead WLs and WLAs
I was really happy to find this channel based in London area. Great videos of trans rebuilds and engine rebuilds.

I've been watching his vid's for quit some time now . Seems like a very knowledgeable guy & his work is quality & ethic seems top notch , you can tell that by how clean he keeps his place . Wouldn't mind having that Mercury he has in the shop . I wasn't sure who to watch to learn & not learn wrong which is so easy with youtube .

I've seen him explain differences between WLA and WLC's...mmmmm..not that great.
He smeares some lube on the manifold nipples prior to torqueing the nuts...not my cup of tea really..

I’m rebuilding my transmission and this is the only real video I have found out there to see how it is assembled and measured.

Re: New YouTube channel fixing flathead WLs and WLAs
Tatro has several vids on Wl transmissions . Between watching him & REI I do know that I don't think I would have done mine right just using the service manual I have . The one I have is the 1959 - 1973 Harley servi-car service man . In my case I knew I was going to be asking a whole bunch of questions .
I'll start a new thread when I get going on mine .

Agreed, I find the same manual has alot of vagueness, not like my concise evo manual. What yr is your Servi?

I'm in the same boat too! I've been watching Tatro's videos and reading up on rebuilds. I got a 46 Servi car, i wanna start rebuilding.

I have ascertained that any manual that encompasses more than 10 yrs, are usually useless and onstruse.
Mt two cents.

Great videos. His new shop looks good, wish I had that much space. I like watching Pacific Mike too. Between these two guys, my manual and a hammer I should be able to get my bikes up on the road this year.

I’ve watched tatro for years. He helped me with my 74 sportster rebuild. I didn’t know he had WL transmission videos. I’ll check them out. This rie dude is good and some what refreshing. Bollocks!!! It’s knackerred. Hahah

Re: New YouTube channel fixing flathead WLs and WLAs
MY paperwork says its a 46 , but it has juice brakes . & has the wrong shift drum I have the late shift drum . I was planning on taking any measurement I could for play / backlash & anything else before & as I dismantled the engine & transmission & compare those to what the specs are supposed to be . My thinking , which could just be a wet dream was I'd have a better idea of what bearings I may be needing / shims I might be needing for the rebuild.

First make sure it is what it is; look for codes on both engine and box.
Frame and forks have their telltails too.
Then you can decide whether to exchange/ renew parts...or not.

Re: New YouTube channel fixing flathead WLs and WLAs
Frame has been hacked , raked & probably the first molding job ever . I have a new neck here of a late servi that will take the 1" stem . I'll report the
belly #'s when I get the engine out . I bought a correct factory raked tree set for a servi , but decided since I'm not going all stock on my build I will offer them up here to someone that really needs them for their build & I'll just get a aftermarket set of trees . I did the transmission shift pattern test & came up with a 47 or newer shift pattern , so not sure if I will get a 46 shift drum or just build it as a 47 or later .
thanks
