66007-84 Battery (OBS)

#1

Post by panhead_kicker »

Seems my 9 year old battery in my 69 FLH is finally giving up; and it doesn't owe me a thing at this point.
It's an AGM, so no maintenance required, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I haven't located another yet, perhaps Ultima quit making these? Darn shame ... but I do see reviews on Amazon from last year.
Any suggestions ?

Yes, several "add acid" batteries to be found. AGM, not so much.
Well, I took a chance on this Ultima years ago, so I may just have to roll the bones on one of these other chinese units.
Suckers are really expensive at the moment...

Look at an Odyssey, AGM American made. I have been running these for the last 20 plus years with very good life, in the range you mentioned on your Ultima.

I use DEKA’s with decent life in all my bikes. The heat in Florida is hard on batteries.

Jireh cycle has carried them but the stock comes and goes. I have those batteries in several bikes with good life.

FYI: Jireh is the back door retail outlet for MidWest Cycle Supply, who's house brand is Ultima.
Jirah and MidWest ship out of the same warehouse near Saint Louis, Missouri....

I tried to post a picture but I'm challenged. I've been using a BATTBOY 65 with fair results. GOOGLE BATTBOT 65

This box is interesting. I've an old oem HD battery that could be gutted to do the same. Would be a dirty job I suspect.
Certainly makes it future proof.

I've been using it for about a year, It has tongue and groove around the top. Folks always commenting where did you get that old battery. I use an AGM listed for my 05 Bonneville in it. I'm probably a little low on CCA but I haven't had any problem and don't believe the advertising on Chinese batteries anyway, and I'm more satisfied with battery selection it affords.

Not difficult. I’ve done it on 6 volt battery for horseshoe oil bag.
