If you have some lifters tapping. Determine which ones, and tighten it down 1/2 a turn, and see if that helps. They can be completely bottomed out, but only when cold, with no ill effects. If the tapping persists, there are other problems.....
Hey Roo

When you say tighten it down 1/2 a turn, do you mean make the pushrod longer or shorter?

Think about what we are trying to do here.
You want to make for less free play, slop, so let's make the pushrod longer. Tightening up the preload on the lifter, yo?

Made some new vids yesterday, outside with the new tappets and with warm oil. I think, compared to the noise, the engine made last year with the old hydraulics it´s much better now. here is the link to the "music" Let´s build this thing together

What I read on Jim’s sight about this lifter
Start with front cylinder intake at lowest point on cam take all movement “slop”of up and down travel out then turn adjuster on push rod down 15 flats for 24 tpi thread you still hear clicking of being to loose in newest vid if running and roll circuit breaker to retard how does it sound then at normal idle? You are going to hear some noise that’s true but if you hone in
with ear you hear the clicking

You are right, with jims pushrods it´s 15 flats, i am using the oem hd pushrods with 32 tpi and with them it´s 18 flats (3 full turns) that´s what i did and now i will log some miles to check if the tappets working fine. I also will decrease the idle speed and see what´s happening to the ticking.
