Tool Identification

#1

Post by 47str8leg »

My friends father is in his late 80's and has always been into motorsports . This 1938 knucklehead is still in his extended family that his fathers older brother bought brand new and his dad owned at one time. He gave him this combination wrench that he said came in an original HD tool kit from around 1935 or so. One side he said is 7/8ths. And the other around 1&1/4". He said his dad told him it was used for axles. 7/8ths would be for plugs or some other earlier axle size I am not familiar with .
Can't find much on earlier VL or JD kits other than aftermarket tools that don't look the same. He says there are no identification marks on it but his dad insists it was original.

That is a spark plug wrench. It came in various model tool kits throughout the '30s and '40s. It was used in conjunction with another tool, a socket after plugs went to the smaller size. The number is 11805-29.

So it is !
The wrench is for the front and rear axle sleeve nuts.
