Linkert m74b excessive fuel
Hello again.
I know you may someone already asked these. I have tried to find a reference but I have not been able to solve it. The carburetor lets pass a lot of fuel, which makes the spark plugs dirty and difficult to start. I cannot keep it at a good rhythm without it turning off due to excess fuel. I have tried to adjust it with a rich and poor mixture but I do not know if in addition to the high and low lever there is something (inside maybe) that allows to restrict the excess of gasoline that passes.
Regards

Inside the low speed needle knob is a tiny spring. Could be that spring is installed incorrectly. It needs to be fitted so it's pushing the needle downward.
This is a fairly common assembly error that comes up occasionally. Easy to check and easy to fix. Good luck, hope this helps..

Ok I will check that parts.
Anybody know what the correct low speed needle length should be? I'm thinking that maybe this is shorter or another model needle.
Regards

IDK, but if the carb history is unknown you may have the wrong internal parts, including venturi, main nozzle.

I found that low speed needle sells from 1948-1965 models in 3" 1/2 and 4" total lenght, what determinates that difference?

There are at least 9 different carburetors in that range, and many body castings.

Re: Linkert m74b excessive fuel
If the offset of the float isn't correct, the float will hang up. You don't say which type of float you have. If you have a tin float it can have gas in it causing it to be heavy and not float well. If that is your problem there are newer floats that are better.

Re: Linkert m74b excessive fuel
I bought the manual on the Victory page through paypal, I am trying to contact them but it seems that the email is not active, do you know how I can contact them to confirm that they received my payment? Cheers

Re: Linkert m74b excessive fuel
Might be worth testing how well it floats. In the pic I'm checking buoyancy by floating in gasoline/petrol..
