Is this drip from a leaking checkball? 55 FL

55 motor. Its winter in Oregon, so she is sitting for a bit. Small, yet continuous drip from the primary case (front chain oiler) I can live with it, but would like to know if a poorly seating check ball causes the slow but steady drip through to the front chain oiler?

Probably because you have it sitting straight up on a lift and small amount of oil left In the primary case is dripping out. If you put it on the kickstand it may stop. Then it will drip from somewhere else.

Sounds right.... It was dripping there, and other places more on the kickstand. I take it, given that's almost a months worth, that its not bad enough to put a valve on the line?

I believe that the answer to the question of putting a valve on......is NO.

I have not checked my pan just yet, to see if my mods to my oil pump to prevent wet sumping is working as I think that it should.....but I will shortly.

I don't have a heated garage, just a carport and got her covered up.

Weather here in Germany is beginning to stop with the rainy crap (finally) and I might be able to look at her soon.

I don't think that the photo you shown is a 'lot" of oil, but with a metal on metal check ball.....normal over time seepage.

Just my thoughts

George

PS here is a link to the modifications that I have made to my oil pump. https://www.hydra-glide.net/phpBB3/view ... =5&t=15073
