I have the receipt on everything done to motor and trans . I put mystery oil down the cylinders. Budget? I don’t need no stinking budget. Lol. I’m sure it won’t be cheap though. Patina+ oem= $$$$.

If you're not going to be protested for displacement, insist on original appearance, a much more powerful engine can be made to look like stock.

Re: 1937 flathead
If there's a ground stud on the underside of the oil tank, chances are they're '42-'45 WLA tanks (i.e. no emblems, but '40 & up in-tank gas shut off). 35 years ago, they would have been cheap & plentiful to find. I, too, have a 37 W project. Just found the correct frame, clutch, & trans after 40 years of looking. Still looking for the tanks. Doc

Here is the underside of the oil tank. I’m not sure about that weld. Doesn’t look factory. 40 years to find stuff? Shit I want to race this think in a few months!

Re: 1937 flathead
It's factory. Yeah,40 years is a looonnnggg time, but some 1937 only W parts are kinda hard to find.... Besides, I've been putting bikes together & riding them since I was 12, I'm patient! I'm going to start putting it together this winter. Doc

Re: 1937 flathead
Thanks Doc,
What year do you think the tanks are? How can you tell these are factory? I’m going to post more parts when I get them out of the boxes. Best place to source bars seat, rear fender etc..

Re: 1937 flathead
Your tanks appear to be dented where the fittings are on the oil tank, as if they were dropped at some point. If there is no ground stud or remains of it on the right tank (which there doesn't appear to be in the pics) and no drain plug in the gas side they are most likely '40-'41 WLA tanks or modified civilian tanks. Also no "oil" markings on tanks, soldered on or embossed point to prewar tanks.

Got these floorboards. Been looking around and don’t see square ones. What are these? Thanks!

Re: 1937 flathead
Those floorboards are Shovelhead era up to the isolation rubbers added in the mid '70s. The correct square type for a '37 are true rectangles (-14 part number) and fitted through '39 on all models.

Re: 1937 flathead
Here it is taped together. Going to change he the wheels to 18 and 19. Spoke with some racers and you can actually do what ever you want. I do want a flathead rear fender and bars if anyone has one. Guys are running all kinds of repop stuff.
