Frame painting
I stripped my 55’ to the frame in preparation to have it painted. I am considering powder coating for a more durable finish. They can do it in a satin or gloss. Has anyone had powder coating done? Is there any reason not to do it. Thanks for any input.

Re: Frame painting
my opinion, do not powder coat. That stuff is murder to get off, and believe me one day it will be coming off. And the other problem with powder coating is it hides problems underneath if it's rusting you won't even know it. If you're restoring your 55 I recommend just putting on a two-part paint, it's much tougher than say a rattle can and we'll hold up very well. Bob

Re: Frame painting
Powder done properly is bulletproof. However, it seldom looks like paint. I've been doing my own powder for years, but I wouldn't use it on an original frame.
