Panheads are all about flow. When hot a gauge will only make you think something is wrong. Just make sure oil is returning to the oil tank when it running.

Nigel--The guage is a waste of time!!!-Todays guages are junk & even HD ones are not calibrated correctly!---If your oil-light comes on & you raise the RPMs up a little & the light goes out!/Its all you need to know!--IF the light comes on when your haulin-ass down the pike---THEN you have a problem!--Usually its a Pinion bushing that shifts & cuts off ALL supply to MOTOR!/Other then that /I try & buy-up all used OEM 50s oil-sender units & some are shot but most are just fine!---Remember New ones are calibrated to high/if your running 60wt. & you have return to tank & 1 to 2 LBS. of pressure at idle /(your GOLDEN!).---Respectfully----Richie

Empirically, a gauge looks kewl, but hard to read, run a light like the previous gentleman stated. But the gauge would screw into where the oil sending unit sits.
