Hi,
I need to see a picture of an original square coil that has never been repainted.
I want to see if the terminals were painted black (totally or not)
sincerely

Re: original coil paint
They may have been painted but would have needed the paint off for a good connection.

Re: original coil paint
thank you for the answer,
I understand that the upper part of the terminals (where wires get screwed) has to be paint free for a good connection.
But what I want to know is if the lower part of the terminals (where the coil wire is soldered and where there is a Brown insulator) was painted or not.
On the repro coils terminals are free of paint, but on the original one I have (which has been repainted a long time ago) there is black paint.
I know that this is a "cosmetic" detail but is someone has an answer...

Re: original coil paint
I have original coils, the terminal is painted where it is riveted to the coil.

Re: original coil paint
The exposed rivets are a dead giveaway on repop coils. All the originals are painted, black (civilian) or OD green (military).

Re: original coil paint
Plus original rivets were solid steel Vs. repop that are semi-hollow with a rolled over shoulders
