Are the sliders for a 1949 Hyrda Glide a one year only thing? I have a set with a -48 number stamped on the top of them. TIA Dave

pan620,

1949 was the only year they were installed unpolished, sand cast and painted black from the factory.

Actually, nearly any year could be ordered black.

'49's were the only year stamped, and sand-cast. Please remember that the year at the end of OEM numbers is the blueprint year; In the attached pic, it looks like a 9. Often stamping is imperfect, or has been dressed over the years.

The brake drum was also a unique sand-cast part.

Ever seen a casting number on the inside of the fender ear? Right where the two bolts go?

Early 49's were stamped on the outside near the top and later 49's were cast on the inside near the middle.

It could've been stamped by a previous owner as a means of identification.
I have a couple of brake drums with the same stampings inside, but if I ever knew what it was I've forgotten.

The inside of that drum seems more crude than others I have... would that be the sand cast type? Thank you for the replies
