Front Axle Sleeve 43882-48

This has got to be a silly brain fart on my part (or maybe it's the Hamms). Trying to remove the nut on my front axle sleeve, but the sleeve only spins when the nut is turned. I don't recall this being an issue in the past. What is supposed to hold the sleeve captive while the nut is loosened (or tightened for that matter?)

Hold the inside with your hand, if threads are damaged use channel locks.

The inside (hub end) of the sleeve has two slots in it for the purpose of holding it with a flat strap type tool. It is only accessible when the wheel is off of it. Generally just the friction of the leg keeps it from spinning as the nut is run on. However if the nut is tight (many aftermarket don't fit the threads perfectly), or if there is any damage to them you need to hold the sleeve. Channel locks, pipe wrenches, vice grips, etc will damage the machined surface and cause issues with the hub fit.
