Head Repair

#1

Post by tattoomark »

My 55's front head has pin holes and i believe a small hair line crack where the intake manifold clamp goes I am wondering if anyone has ever used Silver Seal to fix a problem like this? I am also looking for a capable welder to weld the head any recommendations?

Headhog does excellent work however it can take a year for repairs due to overload.
Take your head to a local aluminum welder.

If you're not sure that the crack exists, or to what extent, a dye penetrant test would be in order. The kit is available at any weld supply store and will tell you a whole lot in just a few minutes. A crack is typically longer than it looks. It is counterproductive to act on assumption when it is so easy to be sure.
