Star Hub Disk Brake Adapter for Rear

#1

Post by Eric »

Been a member for long time but never had anything knowledgeable to post. This is an adapter I'm working on
to make it possible to put disk brakes on a star hub on the rear. It shadow boxes the star. the 5 rings are
to place in the holes to take up the space in the holes. I used 3/8 bolts and the holes are around .700" diameter
The only thing is drilling a hole for the grease fitting. right now I have greased the bearings and plugged the hole.
The workmanship is not good but when you working in a production machine shop you use a machine when you can. Alot
of the dimensions where trial and error.

Clever idea!
You can always use an earlier star cover without the zerk, which wasn't introduced until the mid-'50s.
It means a little more effort to perform maintenance on the bearing (grease), but would be no different than the earlier hubs in that regard.
Thanks for posting, looking forward to seeing the end result.
