correct mirrors

#1

Post by dcmc »

Looking for mirrors for my 55 and 62. I have one 3' round set screw mirror, and one rectangular set screw mount type mirror, no stems of course, and really don't know what year/ years these would have fit. Does anyone have photos of the correct mirror for either 1955 flh or my 1962 fl ? I also wonder if mirrors were an accessory only since my parts books don't show them.
Thank you to all those who have helped in the past and continue to do so !

You are correct in that mirrors were accessory items. they were pretty popular but not required by states yet so not original equipment. H-D as well as all the aftermarket suppliers sold them . The most common is the -47 type used on both your '55 and '62. They had Harley-Davidson roll stamped into the stem. This is one in the picture. The set screw types are later.

Thanks, Rubone I thought the bent stem ones were what I need, they just seem hard to find at swap meets.
