Fixed jet for a Linkert M-74B?

#1

Post by Mark44 »

I picked up a Linkert M-74B from a guy on caimag.com a couple of weeks ago, and discovered that it is running a #4 fixed jet (.057", which I measured using a small jeweler's screwdriver, and measuring the shank diameter of the screwdriver). The standard fixed jet for this Linkert model is #19, and the M-74 ran a #17 jet, I believe.

I read through all of the KB topics that seemed to be concerned with Linkert fixed jets, and a few people said that they got better all-around performance with a smaller jet. Is there any reason I should NOT go with a #19 jet for this carb?
Thanks,
Mark

No reason not to run the #19. The #17 and #18 are available should you need some tuning options....

I agree /for a sump-fed carb. as the linkert 74/Start with what belongs in it!-You can open-up the jet in increments if needed!//If the mill is stock I see no reason for fooling with it!,If you are running aftermarket cam/it really has to be quite aggresive to the point where you have to open-up the main.-(JMHO)---Respectfully---Richie
