i have a 18 casting #, M74 B that appears to be parkerized did they ever come that way or only painted black? Thanks

Non-ferrous alloys like brass, bronze, aluminum, etc. won't take a parkerized finish, but there are some chemicals you can apply to them to darken or age them - instant patina.

If I remember correctly, Cotten has used black appliance epoxy in the rattle can for a finish on the Linkerts.

Thanks for all the experienced responses, I had never seen one that looked quite like this, very even, very black inside and out done somehow many years ago, maybe in a fire or in proximity to chemicals, but all parts as assembled look good and it will not rub off like smoke.
