Hi again,
Can I make '64 flywheels work with a pre '54 left case? If so, what is involved.
THanks
Mike

Mike!
You will need the proper shaft, rollers, cages, thrustwashers, etc.
Installation is covered in the Service Manual, although worn tapers benefit from lapping:

Re: Sprocket Shaft / flywheel Question
Doh!
I stand corrected, as there is no seat and pin for the thrustwasher either.
(For some reason, I was thinking pinions..., sorry.)

Re: Sprocket Shaft / flywheel Question
So I need the whole flywheel assembly from a pre 54 to use the pre 54 left case? Will a roller bearing on the 64 sprocket shaft work?
Mike

Re: Sprocket Shaft / flywheel Question
Mike the cases are different from 54 to 64.the 54 has a pressed race to accept loose roller bearings, the 64 has a cast insert to accept the Timken type bearing on the sprocket side. You can run a 54 left with a 64 right case given that you have them line bored.
