roller to timkin conversion
Hello All, been away for awhile. I just started another pan project, trying to use up some of the extra stuff I have. I have a 57 right case and I'm looking at a 49 left case. Just curious can I convert the 49 roller case to timkin? I'm a machist by trade (so the machining partis not a problem)but just curious if it has been done?Any pros or cons? If how can I run these two together? As alway thanks in advance Bob

Dear Bob,
Of course it can be done, but not without regrets.
A early left flywheel is much easier.

Re: roller to timkin conversion
If you bore the left case for the Timken setup the cast in steel race essentially will go away. There will also be no way to locate the bearing and lock it in place. As nightshift said, anything is possible. Why not just build it as a roller setup? Justa linebore to match them up, match the deck and build away.
