Question about sprocket shafts

#1

Post by Big Nick »

I am putting together a 51 pan motor. I have a set of 1960 wheels. Does anyone make a sprocket shaft I can use with timken bearing wheels and roller cases? Any help is appreciated!

Thanks.

PS. I already called Eastern who dont make it and I have a call into to TP.

The only other option I have is to have a machinist in my father's shop make the shaft but I then need all the dimensions. I am thinking he can use an early shaft and duplicate it with a larger taper for the later wheels. Again any help is appreciated.

Nick, I can probably help ya with this one but I’m confused about what you’re asking. 1960 wheels had roller bearings in a star hub. Are you talking about a duel flange hub? They had Timken bearings. Bob

No, not the wheels, I am talking about fly wheels, sorry about that. I am dealing with 1960 flywheels and 1951 cases.

Your 51 case will limit you to a tapered sprocket shaft and caged roller bearings. Stock shaft should fit the fly wheels .
