Re: about cases
Cases were line bored in pairs at the factory.
What your thinking of doing has been done before and if your lucky the races will be close enough they will work without problems.
50/51 bearings are the same.
Another option is case repair so you keep matched cases.

Re: about cases
Any Panhead case will bolt to any other, however there are a few differences to consider. Any '48-'57 right case will work and will work with bearings that match the stock '51 type. The cast in bushing for the right race is the same size! From '58 up it became larger. The case will still work, just different bearing size! From '53 up the oil drain from the top end changed slightly so a '53 up case needs to be used with the correct type cylinders to allow drain. AFAIK all aftermarket cylinders have the late drains. '53 up cases have provision to feed oil to the tappet blocks allowing use of hydraulic lifters. So a lot of it depends on what you are doing.
Is this a custom project built from parts? Or are you trying to replace a case on a basically stock bike?
