Welding front motor mount.
I got a crack in my front motor mount.What is better,mig or stick welding?

Tig for alum cases, mig for the frame, stick will work but not many can do that and do it right.
you can use tig on the frame it just takes longer, it does put a bit more heat to it this way, so that is something to think about
if it's in the thick part you need to cut a groove part way into the crack, weld and do this all the way around till welded up, this will make the strongest repair

TIG uses LESS heat, and that is one of the benefits. The heat (amperage) is controllable. MIG and stick can produce quality welds, but the starts and stops can be questionable. Short runs, like on a motor mount, are nothing but starts and stops. High quality welds are usually guaranteed with TIG.

Just got my left front mount tigged. he did a great job.grooved it, out welded it,ground it a little, then went over it with air powered scaler. can't tell it was ever welded.
