Checking oil flow

#1

Post by Garyson1311 »

Ok so this is a piggyback off of my last post.. I want to verify that oil is flowing and I read that an easy way to do it is to pop off the oil filler cap from the bag and kick over the motor (no plugs?) to see if oil is pumping back into the bag? I just wanted to verify that this is the way to do it as this is pretty important I think!

Thanks guys!

That tells you:
1. there is oil in the engine, but not how much
2. that the return gears are turning, but not the feed gears

If you kick for quite a while and it doesn't stop you're probably OK.
If it does stop, oil isn't reaching the case:
1. empty tank
2. blocked line or fitting
3. feed key sheared
