The oil pump has no chain oiler adjusting screw.

i doubt it was shipped that way from the factory.

Re: oil pump without chain oiler adjusting screw
I'm holding 4 oil pump bodies in my hands right now--- on all of them the threads don't start until just inside pump body, as your photo shows. Your adjuster needle is indeed broken off inside the body.

Re: oil pump without chain oiler adjusting screw
the screw has a long taper on the needle end. if you were to measure an original you might be able to carefully select the right size to drill through without damaging the seat in the pump body.
then the rest could be removed with a easy out as suggested above.

Re: oil pump without chain oiler adjusting screw
If the chain oiler was not shut off when it broke, it may not be all that tight. It's easier to say drill a hole in the middle of a broken bolt then it is to do. I have had great success removing broken screws with a small center punch or my new toy is a small pneumatic engraver. The engraver has removed many broken bolts without cramping up your hands and when it starts to turn it walks out very quickly. The rapid blows from the engraver help break it loose also. This is a small bolt, so it may be hard to do with a punch or the engraver. I would at least attempt turning it out with a scribe before starting the drilling process.

Re: oil pump without chain oiler adjusting screw
Try drilling it out with a left hand drill bit. that way if it's loose it will unscrew itself as you are drilling.

Great tip! I never thought of that! I even have an engraver I can try that on next time--- all I have to do now is remember it next time!PanPal wrote:If the chain oiler was not shut off when it broke, it may not be all that tight. Re: oil pump without chain oiler adjusting screw
I was just going to suggest that. Almost all drill bit sizes are available in 'reverse twist'. Whenever I drill for an EZ-Out, I use a reverse twist bit--- many times, when the bit 'binds' a little, you're right, the screw or bolt will come out. Also, there are many different kinds of EZ-Outs, or broken bolt removers. I have some that have the drill bit incorporated into the tip of the EZ-Out (yes, reverse twist) that work very well--- and come in very small sizes, too.StueyC wrote:Try drilling it out with a left hand drill bit. that way if it's loose it will unscrew itself as you are drilling.

I do a lot of commercial door hardware work, and these little jewels often come in handy!
Oh, and have you ever had to remove a broken tap? It's not problem-- just use a 'broken tap removal tool'...!
