i have built a 1948 right case with a late shovel left case. they were run together before. I am also using a tifton oil pump. problem i am having is that there is quite a bit of oil seeping from the breather port by the oil pump. I have not started the motor yet. can i plug this port ? does anyone know what size thread it is. please go to the following link to look at the picture of the hole i am talking about.

..
That is a machined passage that is normally blocked off with a solid plug in the same manner as the other plugged passages.

Re: oil seeping out of the breather hole.
It normally has a "welch plug" in it, which are usually available from most auto supplys.
Installation is simple, if you properly prep the casting first.
If you are running a belt, you may have to open the gallery in another manner.
If you have oil seeping from a sitting motor, it is probably sumping past the oilpump ballcheck.
