Jimmy-
Welcome,
I put 20-50 in most everything, & No Problems. & I use Synthetics. Mobil 1, or Amsoil...I'm down here in the
"Sunny Southern Weather"
I would say that you being in Cold BRRR!!! Alaska that would be fine. 20-50 HD or what brand you prefer .
If you wish to stick to 50 wt. The Auto Parts have it in Castrol. At least around here.

Too thick is no-good. Can makes the bearings "wedge"
or jam & not roll, as intended.

I ran Aeroshell for years in my ironhead Sporty and really liked it. I was running revtec oil, but the price got as high as Mobil 1 15W-50 at wally world, so I switched to it. I'm sure there will be other opinions....

I got a good deal on some Kendall GT straight 50. When that's gone I'll go back to Castrol 20-50, with 25% Castrol Syntec added.

Harley-Davidson motor oil. 20W50. If your dealer only charges $4.00 a quart, insist on paying more.

Here in the very hot part of the world Amsoil HD Racing 60 has served me extremely well in many stock to high performance engines. After years of oil analysis I use only synthetic oil in my engines and transmissions now.

Stett told me I can switch between Harley 20W50 and (hot climate) Harley SAE 60 grade (grade, not 60 wt. Their oil is beyond the the classification of "weight" and "grade" lends itself to the word "secret Sun Oil® formula".) Harley® sent me their information. We published it and stand by it. You have to "believe" that their oil is special (bearing face cushioned to the race-face) to their motor design. I have only used Harley 20W50 from day one in my Pan for 30K, then recently pulled the heads to reveal only light piston scuffing, plus it smells good in my hair. I'm going to keep on Chooglin' with Harley® oil until it falls apart.

It is my humble opinion that any oil is better than no oil, so check it often.
And clean oil is better than dirty, so change it often.
Beyond that, the major differences are the pretty containers, and the price.

Which reminds me, today a fellow gave me a delightful cardboard Aeroshell can from decades past!
(Ashless Aeroshell is almost manditory for total-loss machines, and bless'ed Rat's as well!)
