Oil pump conversion: drill new passages

Ok, thinking of converting a 56 to the newer Alu oil pump. Heard i need to drill new passages in the block? True??

At least that is true if you use a Electra pump.

MrBaging, I converted my 53 to a later alum. pump. The best directions is in the Easyriders tech book for early models. I did drill my case as they showed and also take some time to look at pump to case oil passage alignment. I matched mine up and opened the gasket to match these holes. Its not for everybody, but I do believe it makes a difference. I went to the lighter oil and very seldom went under 20# oil pressure this summer. Ed

Aahhh... didn't even thought of looking in one of those books... ::) Got #1, #2 and #3, so hopefully it's in of them.....

s&s has detailed instructions on their website if you use their pump.
