Oil drain plug with valve

Anybody on the aftermarket make a drain plug for a horseshoe oil tank that has a shutoff valve so you can connect a hose and put the oil where you want it instead of all over the bike?

Lubrication System (oil feed pump and scavenger pump, reservoir, filter, and lines)

There's not a lot of room to get a funnel under the oil tank drain plug, and no matter how careful I am it always results in a mess when I change my oil. I was thinking of some kind of fitting not much bigger than the drain plug with a hose barb on it and some kind of valve action like a collar you can rotate 90 degrees to open or close. Nothing as obvious as a ball valve or anything with a handle that invites some random ahole who thinks it's funny to leave all your oil all over the ground when the bike is unattended.

I don't trust anyone not to screw with mine or anyone else's bike, so I would not endorse the idea of leaving a hose and a valve (even tucked in) on an oil tank.
But I sympathize with you about the mess. I obtained a plastic encased lead sheet from O'Rielley's (I think) years ago that I molded into the desired shape to fit my bike for containing the mess. Use it only for that purpose, keep it hanging over a drip pan rest of the time. Might work for you...IF they still sell them anywhere.

Old biker trick, push the starter pedal all the way down, lean bike to right using arm and pedal for stand. DO NOT put weight on it, do it gently, and it allows the tank to drain completely. Use a homemade funnel like RooDogs and a shallow pan, walk away and go have a beer. Works a treat. :mrgreen:

I've used the cardboard box that oil filters are sold in to make a similar looking channel to flow the oil down and into a shallow pan, especially on my lawn mowers........and yet I always seem to dribble and even still have the occasional major spill mess. At my age dribbling is my enemy in other ways too.

For a while I had a pneumatic female quick disconnect fitting like you would find on a compressor hose threaded into the oil tank drain hole, and a piece of hose with the male end on one end that I would plug in to drain the oil into a catch pan, but the disconnect fitting male threads protruded probably a quarter inch into the oil tank, meaning there would always be a small amount of oil that couldn't be drained, plus it looked kind of out of place, so I ditched that and went back to a regular drain plug. I guess any kind of fitting that stays mounted in the tank would have the same problem. I guess I'll fab something like what RooDog shows. Kind of reminds me of one of the exhaust heat shields from my Road King. Too bad I just threw out the old rusty ones. Could have been the starting point for something.

Thank y'all for the positive feedback on my drain trough.
One thing to remember is that when those three quarts of hot oil come roiling out of that drain fitting they are HOT and pretty wildly uncontrollable, so do plan for that. That is why I have the roll to the rear and the extension to the front, all part of the plan....
They also help wedge the drain pan in place, that rear pipe is a bit of a challenge to get around.....

Who makes those mufflers? I need something skinny like that to clear my frame. I have a tab welded on for the rear disk brake torque arm that gets in the way of pretty much any muffler I've seen.

Those are repop 65231-65a XLCH/accessory factory mufflers from Taiwan Tedd's v-Twin. I don't remember where that rear pipe came from but it is a clone of the Shovelhead Superglide pipe with Panhead flange welded in place of the single bolt SH flange. I don't remember if I made it or bought it.....
