Please excuse me for this thread
I have a horse shoe tank on a 65. With a 47 trans and a tin primary,
Is primary lube good for transmission ? I think it is 20w40. (Used in my evo)
The tranny looks about half full.
How far below the fill neck threads should I fill to ? In trans and in oil tank ?
Does the primary get oil ? Thru diamond inspection cover ? How much if any ?
Oil levels. And type of oil.

This subject has been covered many times but I use 50 wt. in the tranny filled to bottom of threads with bike plumb. Same oil in oil bag(winter) filled to about 1" below top for expansion. About 4 quarts.

FL54 is correct.---Use 60wt. in motor & same in tranny. However if the horseshoe tank is aftermarket it wont take 4-qts.--Mine olny holde 3-1/2qts.-Fill horseshoe until you have inch for expansion with bike up straight.Same for tranny /there suppose to hold 1-1/2-pints!--I fill minr until i can stick my pinky finger in & have the fingernail covered with oil/bike also up straight.----Respectfully---Richie

Re: Oil levels. And type of oil.
tin primary gets no oil added ...if you are running a chain in the primary the auto oiler drips on it ..if you are running a belt primary ,turn the auto oiler in till it seats ...that is shut off
