Because of space problems elsewere I'm thinking of installing a small spin-on oil filter in the oil pump inlet line and mounting it horizontaly behind the trans . Anybody done this?

I wouldn't !!! Any Harley's (Inlet) feed is by "GRAVITY ONLY" & having it 'try' to get thru a filter first by gravity is IMO a BAD move. (STARVE THE MOTOR)

The return line is Pumped by Oil Pump Pressure to- "Push it back"
That's the line to "tap into" & works well doing this.
