Oil Valvoline 60

#1

Post by jdpan »

Anyone have a line on Valvoline 60 weight racing oil? Looks like they may have discontinued it, can't seem to find it anywhere... Apparently, my check valve ball seat is in need of some attention... Thanks for any leads..

If you have a NAPA store nearby, they carry it.

Napa does sell it. I don't know why Auto Zone will not order it for you? They also have it on there web site.

I use to run 100 Aero Shell 30 years ago. I had to order it back then. It is ashless oil used in air cooled airplane engines. It is good oil however the synthetic MC oils today are much better.

Well I cant help it but this has bothered me for more years than alot of you guys have had hogs ! aircraft operate at altitudes that are +sea level, where the ambiant temps are much cooler than on the ground ..... so is the viscosity rateing the same as on the ground oil ? lets see if you some one can change my grumpy old mind .. If this is in regards the the Valvoline 60 wt, it's about 6 bucks a quart.

No luck at napa unless I order a case which I might do, I'll check out Amazon.

Panhead Ed and Folks!

In spite of its noble qualities,... and my own experience with it in Pans,...
I confess that I hoard my AeroShell for earlier machines that find it much more critical, such as any total-loss machine.

It keeps well in plastic bottles, right?

PS Folks:
Why would anyone pay for exotic modern synths when you should dump it regularly anyway?
Does a special lube mean you should risk pushing it to the limit?

Any NAPA should have no problem getting to you . I cant believe they dont stock it.. no wait what am I saying I work at one ... heres what happened ... your store carried it for years ,, then the corperate chick from Detriot came down and walked around the store ... did some real advanced math and said to the owner " um , you dont need that I want more airfreshners here" and wallaaa no more 60wt... it happens all the time.

Get a case .. It the best dam oil on the shelf... it still has ZINK in it as well for all us flat tappet racers. runnin it for 40+ yrs in my hotrod but only use HD for my scoots when HD discontinued 105P we all went to 60

Ed!
I fear that even Aeroshell does not have significant levels of ZDDP.

Please prove me wrong!
