oil bag overfull

Post by chuck 56 pan »

Prior to a ride today, I topped off the oil level, well below the return and vent ports in the top of the tank. After my ride I wanted to see if there was any oil useage, what I found was the tank overfull! I will guess that there was some oil in the sump and got returned to the tank, and In the future I should only add oil after the engine has been run and not sitting for a day? or is this just expansion of the fluid? What say you guys? Im still getting to know my bike, Its running real good, My speedo is weird, the MPH is correct but doubles the Odometer, Im happy it even works. what sucks is that both valve covers leak and I have to pull the heads so soon after the rebuild.

Chuck!

Oil expands a little from heat, and a lot more from air beaten into it,...
but basically you sumped.
