Oil Light and oil gauge fitting for both
I was wondering if anyone out there ran an oil light and a pressure gauge, and where they found the fitting, or made one. It might be overkill, but I thought having both might be better. If it can even be done. I currently use a gauge.

Keys55 what year bike, I can make you up a set for a 48 cast iron pump all out of stainless that kinda looks like Cad plating. But if you have the newer style pump (aluminium) I'd have to find a bike to make a setup, i.e. gauge bracket, oil line, fittings for the pump to the gauge and tee of to the electric sending unit. I also have a temp gauge for early tanks dipstick cap

key55, My '48FL has both. there is a pic in "Garage" were you can see it. The plastic gauge line goes off the back of a T fitting below the light switch . Not custom stuff, just common brass fittings but you can polish them and if you get the right ones it can be kept compact .

Heres a link to my oil pressure gauge setup, it's all stainless, the tube, fittings and ferrels.

Pantony-
your "thumb-nail" pics are too small to see any detail..
Or maybe I just need glasses ???
Ahhh, yes Bigger IS better !!!!! Clean work, I like the use of stainless also...

Thanks for the tips. The bike is a 56. I like both setups. I think I will give it a try. The worst I can do is fail miserably.

Re: Oil Light and oil gauge fitting for both
keys55: at least for me I can't see as good as I used to (being 50 years old) I wanted to mount the gauge up where i could see it while driving. Hence the gauge bracket bolted to the oil filter bracket. I don't know if you have a presure gauge port like my 48 (looks like British Standard Straight Pipe thread or BSSP) but on the pump I had to get V-Twins adaptor to 1/8" NPT then I got all the stainless fittings to pipe it up. I think Parker makes an adapter in stainless for that too, I can check on it if you like. Then if you want the sending unit you will have to get one in 1/8"NPT and put a tee in by the pump and run a 1/4" stainless line to the gauge.

Home made works for me, I got a dumb Q. If I wanted to raise it up (see it better) would would the extra distance effect the reading? I've been using the light for a while now but I still have the old bulb holders in the dash so sometimes I wonder.look at these....
all from the hardware store

hydraulic pressure is equal in all directions and distances, you could run that gauge line out of 3/4" tubing around the bike three times and you would get the same reading
