Hi,
Recently picked up a 64 panhead and I am wondering the best method to clean the heads both outside and in the combustion chamber?
Thanks
Mike

Re: Best Cleaning method
It would be good if you could wash them before and after in an industrial parts cleaner.....
But Bosheff is right; they need to be blasted.

Re: Best Cleaning method
Mike!
Whatever you have at hand, but I would discourage using sand.
Myself, I start out with fine aluminum oxide, then fine beads, then soft brushing with an abrasive-impregnated wheel and tube brushes, with cleaning in between steps and intensive scouring at the end, of course.
I would think a hard plastic media blast for the third step would be optimum, but I haven't room for another cabinet.
I mask only guide bores when necessary, and blast all galleries thoroughly. It should be assumed that all seats will be cut, gasket surfaces will be ground or scraped, etc., before assembly.
