So what's the deal with pushrods?
Aluminum---Steel??
52 Panhead. Getting rid of the hydralic pushrods and
want to install solid pushrods. I read different views on
steel vs aluminum.
What is the general consensus?
I know where to get aluminum, who sells steel?
Thanks for everyones help
Jim

I havent seen any steel conversion pushrods for a 48-52 that I can recall. All the aftermarket pushrods I have seen for those (including S&S) are aluminum. You can always use the later style tappets and go to the excellent S&S steel pushrod \solid lifter conversion from there.Sorry I cant be any more help. If you do use the aluminum pushrods set them to a SNUG thumb and finger roll dead cold.

Jim
My experience has been the same as Stein stated above, if there are nonadjustable steel pushrods out there for 48-52 I don't where to find them.
When I replaced the "oil-can" pushrods in my '49 FL years ago I went with the Sifton stuff, its been in there a long time and I have no problems or complaints. The pushrods are aluminum and you have to set them snug (tight) as Stein said.
I don't think you can beat these guys for price or quick service, here's a link to their page which covers just about all the choices for converting the hydraulic pushrods in your '52.
good luck
