Split locknuts on solid lifters

#1

Post by jed »

Hi,

Just got a new set of solid tappet screws and locknuts. These are Colony parts,... 9/32" 32 thread.......The locknuts are the split type with the taper on one end...my question is, does the taper go up or down on the screws when installing?

I don't recall but you should be able to look at the lifter body to see if there is a counter bevel .LOL..MW

Yes, I'm thinking that the taper is there for a reason, but it seems they would anchor better if the flat side of the nut were tight against the lifter body. Just need a sure confirmation because I have them installed taper down and it seems that there is a chamfer on the lifter body, but I'd like to know for sure if I've got it right. Thanks for your reply panacea.
