my 58 is nockin a little the guy i bought it from said it needs a valve adjustment another guy told me it was hammering to me it is a clicking sound! i am new to pans any advice?

Sounds like hydraulic lifter(s) failing to pump up. Read the troubleshooting section of the '59-69 H-D manual or read through the JIMS material about their hydraulic adjustment and troubleshooting. Might give you some clues of where to start.

Good advice from VT. Another thing to check is to see if the valve stem is hitting the pan cover. Get a mechanics stethoscope and touch it to the pan covers.
