Push Rods On Pan

#1

Post by bonham3 »

Hi!
Back again. This is probably a no brainer but???:)
Something i just noticed after a year of adjusting my lifters (solids)
I was cleaning up the PR tubes and Rods and noticed 1 of the rods is
about 3/8" longer than the other three. This is on my 48 61" Pan.
??? Bike ran pretty good all that time and had no trouble setting the
valves. What gives? Normal ???
Thank's

Exactly, the longer one is for the front exhaust, those are probably SS lifters.

Hi All,

I have a 1959 FL Duo glide and was wondering in regards to the push rods do they have solid or hydraulic lifters? I know there is difference in adjusting the solids versus the hydraulics.

Thanks,
Panhead Joey

Originally it was hydraulic. Without seeing what is in your bike who knows. Lots have been converted over the years. Do the lifters have skinny tops with a spring on the outside?

Rubone,

I will inspect If the the lifters have skinny top with spring on the outside. If so, would they be considered hydraulics lifters and if that’s the case how would you adjust them?

Thanks, joey
