Tappet Adjusting Screw Dimension

#1

Post by fl9018 »

I am on the verge of finishing my '51 pan motor but first I want to replace the tappet adjusting screws. The problem I am running into is that the pocket for the pushrod is too big. The first set was too small with a 5/16" pocket. Now the second set that I ordered has a 7/16" diameter pocket yet my new pushrods has a 3/8" ball. Shouldn't this be a closer fit? Do I now have to find a set of pushrods with a 7/16" ball on both ends? Who makes correct fitting parts?

FL9018!

You have been stung with a set of bad DIXIE's from twenty years ago.

The fit should be perfect, or at least lappable;
Eastern's used to be fine.
